The Falcon Flyer: February 2026
Coops Corner
Happy February! As we enter this new month, I want to share some important upcoming events, reminders for our students’ success, and a special recognition.
Upcoming Events
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Mark your calendars for our Parent-Teacher Conferences on February 18 from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers, discuss academic progress, and collaborate on strategies for success. We strongly encourage all families to attend, as these discussions can provide valuable insights into your child’s educational journey.
Fall Honors Convocation Ceremony
Join us in celebrating our students’ achievements at the Fall Honors Convocation Ceremony on February 25 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM in the Gym. This ceremony honors students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance and hard work. We would love to see you there to support and congratulate our achievers!
February: Black History Month
February is also Black History Month, a time to celebrate the rich contributions and achievements of Black individuals throughout history. We encourage families to engage in discussions about notable figures and events, fostering an understanding of the vital role that diversity plays in shaping our society. Our students will be participating in various activities and learning experiences throughout the month to honor this important heritage.
The Importance of Attendance and Engagement
As we continue through the school year, I want to emphasize the importance of daily attendance and punctuality. Being on time to class and attending school regularly are crucial for your child’s academic growth. Each lesson builds on the previous one, and missing even a single class can lead to gaps in understanding.
Additionally, we cannot stress enough the value of completing homework assignments. This practice not only reinforces what students have learned in class but also fosters essential study habits. Encourage your child to establish a regular homework routine, free from distractions.
Working together, we can ensure that our students not only achieve their academic goals but also develop a strong sense of responsibility and discipline that will serve them well throughout their lives.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. If you have any questions or need further information about these events, please feel free to reach out.
Wishing you a wonderful month ahead!

Walled Garden
There are many “layers” of digital protections that follow your student as they progress through their life in LPS. Informed by federal/state laws, and guided by LPS Board of Education policies, the District builds a digital “walled garden” where students are able to collaborate with peers and teachers, while also keeping their data secure.
Learn more about how your student’s data privacy is protected here: LPS Computing Services | Data Privacy
Connecting in the Community
LPS students using their LPS Chromebooks around town should connect to a more secure network whenever it is available. LPS has partnered with organizations to provide the following options:
Eduroam
The eduroam wireless network is a secure, world-wide wireless roaming access service for the international research and education community. Students can find it in several establishments around Lincoln. Simply select it from the list of available networks – no other steps needed! Visit this eduroam poster and/or LPS jump code: pao4 for more information.
Allo SmartTown
Allo SmartTown for Education is a partnership between Allo and LPS to provide optional, community-wide wireless internet access to LPS. This program is available for LPS students in grades 6-12 who request access and have parent permission. With over 100,000 access points across Lincoln, students can access the internet from a variety of locations without cost to the student or family. Information for getting started can be found in this Allo SmartTown Setup document.
Athletics
Spring sports tryouts begin Monday, March 2. Spring sports include Baseball, Boys Golf, Girls Tennis, Soccer, Track & Field, and Unified Track & Field. All students interested in participating must have a completed sports physical dated after May 1, 2025 and LPS Athletic & Activities Participation form online via Synergy’s ParentVUE on file with the LNW Athletic office prior to March 2. Please reach out to the LNW Athletic office at lnwathletics@lps.org with questions.
Homework Help
Homework help is available after school on the following days in room 125: Monday – Friday each week from 3:15 – 4:15 pm. Classroom teachers assign it, but students can stop in if they need a place to finish homework.
