The Falcon Flyer: April 2026
Coops Corner
As we move into April, I want to share some important dates and reminders to help your student finish the year strong.
First, please note the schedule changes: there will be no school on Friday, April 3. Monday, April 6, is a district professional learning day with no school for students. Tuesday, April 7, will be a juniors-only day — our 11th graders will be taking the ACT. It is essential that every junior be present for the ACT. This assessment is an important measure of college readiness and contributes to our school’s reporting. Please make every effort to arrange transportation and appointments so juniors arrive rested and on time. A few simple supports — a good night’s sleep, a nutritious breakfast, and bringing any required materials (photo ID, approved calculator, admission ticket if issued) — can really help reduce test-day stress and support student performance.
I am proud to report that more than 50 of our students participated in the John Baylor ACT Prep program this season. That level of engagement demonstrates a strong commitment to academic growth. If your student has testing accommodations or you have questions about the day’s logistics, please contact the counseling office to confirm arrangements.
Our final Parent–Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, April 8, from 3:30–6:30 PM. These conferences are a valuable opportunity to review progress and set goals for the remainder of the school year. If you cannot attend during that window, please reach out to your student’s teacher to schedule an alternative meeting time.
On a lighter note, spring is finally arriving — the warmer weather brings a welcome energy to our campus. We are looking forward to the junior/senior prom and other spring activities. With temperatures changing, I encourage students to dress in comfortable, spring-appropriate layers and shoes, especially for outdoor photos and gatherings. As always, please review prom expectations with your student so everyone can enjoy a safe and respectful event.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. If you have questions about any of the items above, please contact the main office or your student’s counselor. I look forward to a productive and positive month ahead.

Testing Season is upon us!
It’s said a body needs 8 hours of sleep every night. That’s especially true during the testing season. Student Chromebooks also need a good night of charging. Please help your students remember to bring their Chromebooks fully charged every day.
Instructional Technology Tools (ITTs) in LPS & The LPS Portal
LPS believes that effective instruction can and should include the appropriate use of instructional technology to support learning. To that end, a District Instructional Technology Tool (ITT) Committee works to identify ITTs that are safe for student use, support district learning goals, and encourage innovative teaching and learning. All reviewed ITTs are cataloged in the LPS ITT Matrix.
The most frequently used, approved, and supported ITTs are made available to students and staff in the LPS Portal. Students access their LPS Portal by clicking the ‘HOME’ button on their Chromebook.
Need a conversation starter with your student? Ask them for a tour of their LPS Portal and which ITTs they’re currently using in class.
